On April 15th River Ridge Trails welcomed back outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy our natural haven alongside the North Saskatchewan River. The park and trails weathered the spring thaw well, and users were very considerate staying off the trails during the thaw, preventing damage to the soil trails.

Now, we are all able to get out there and enjoy everything that the trails can offer. The aptly named River’s Ridge Trail has provided users with amazing scenic views of the North Saskatchewan River since the first week of construction. This grass path provides a comfortable stroll for everyone to take in the views. The Crocuses are out for the season and are very plentiful along the scenic trail.

If a Mountain Bike ride or a more advanced Hike suits your mood, you can take leave of the leisurely walk amongst the flowers and head up the hill to check out ‘Chasing Cows’ and ‘It Aint Golf’. This 1.75km loop has completely dried from the spring thaw and is ready for you to give it your all. Expect to encounter some serious trail users on this purpose built loop, either on bike or on foot, and be sure to check out the lookout point where the two trails connect at the top of the park.

Finally, if open space is what you’re looking for, you’ll find it on any one of the winter’s Cross Country Ski cuts at the park. With almost 6km of additional trail throughout these loops, you’ll be able to find whatever space you seek. There’s more trail development planned for 2021. Be sure to follow here and on social media for new trails and other upgrades to the site throughout the summer.
